Day 1: Mary’s Faith, Saying Yes in the Unknown

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Luke 1:38

When I think of Mary, I don’t just picture her in the nativity scene calm, glowing, unshaken. I imagine her heart beating fast when the angel appeared, the questions swirling, the future uncertain.

And yet, she said yes.

That simple, surrendered yes changed the world.

As a wife and mom, I know that faith often looks like quiet obedience trusting God in seasons that don’t make sense, saying yes when I don’t have all the answers.

I think of the times I’ve had to say yes to letting go watching my sons grow, find independence, make choices, and face challenges I can’t fix for them. Those moments stretch a mother’s faith.

But Mary reminds me that when we say yes to God, even when it’s uncertain, He writes redemption through our obedience.

Lord, give me Mary’s courage to say yes to trust You with the unknown, with my family, and with my heart. Help me remember that faith isn’t about control, but about surrender. Amen.

My Journal Thought:

Where is God asking me to say yes, this season even if I don’t see the full picture yet?
