Marriage is cool because... Showdown.
Showdown is our Sunday reset... the moment each week when we slow down, sit together, and put everything on the table: schedules, work travel, school, life. It’s how we stay connected when life pulls us in different directions (and sometimes different states). We make the most of it because that kiss when we are back with each other is even sweeter... Especially if the boys are around 😀
At its core, Showdown is about support.
Who needs help.
Who’s carrying what.
Where we can show up better.
It’s also where cohesiveness happens... those spontaneous moments when we realize we can sneak in a mini date with the boys for a quick cheese-curd run. Those moments don’t happen by accident; they’re intentional.
Some showdown are hard conversations, lessons, and accountability. We problem-solve, strategize, and we prepare each other for a big world with big problems and responsibilities. Some showdowns are full of laughter and end with crazy loud family games while others end in fist bumps and a good night "I love you" because the showdown went past mom & dad's bedtime. 😊
Our favorite part shows up later in the week :
“Mom, how did that meeting go?” or "Dad how is the new client going"
That’s when we know the boys are listening. We’re connected.
Marriage is cool because it’s built in moments like this... intentional, cherishing through accountability, loving, and worth every second.
